Learning together, trusting each other

Welcome

Welcome/ Croeso

Welcome to Tref Y Rhyg Primary School / Croeso i Ysgol Gynradd Tref-y-Rhyg

'A small, friendly and caring school which supports, teaches and nurtures children from aged 3 to 11 years old.'

Tref-Y-Rhyg Primary School is an English-medium primary school serving the former mining community of Tonyrefail in the Lower Rhondda Valley, although we also cater for many children who live beyond our catchment.

We welcome boys and girls into our pre-nursery class in the term following their third birthday and at the end of their primary years our pupils feed into Tonyrefail Commmunity School, though the choice of high school remains with parents.  We work closely with all nearby schools in our cluster, sharing good practice, and ensuring successful transitions between schools for all of our pupils.

We are supported at a strategic level, by the Local Authority, and by our governing body, comprising parents, staff, and members appointed by the local authority and from the community. Our ‘Helping Hands Team’ also helps enormously, subsidising educational visits, and organizing social and fundraising events. We also encourage our children to be involved in the running of the school and have a School's Council, Eco-Council, Digital Leaders, Criw Cymraeg and Playground Leaders to help the children play an active part in decision making.

The correct choice of school is one of the major decisions a parent has to make. You can be assured that we at Tref-Y-Rhyg Primary have a highly professional staff committed to providing your child with the best possible education, based upon caring, learning and achieving together.

Welcome to our new website - January 2020

Through our website we aim to give parents, guardians, pupils and the wider community information about our school.

It will be a means of providing up to date information about what is going on within the school and the local community.

Our class pages will be updated regularly so that you can see what your child is learning about and discuss this with them .

We hope you enjoy visiting our new school website.
